Wales Mission Trip 2009

WALES MISSION TRIP
SEPTEMBER 5-9, 2009

Well I must say we had a great time in Wales this year. What an opportunity our family had to go and work with these missionaries, and churches in Wales. The crowd grew every night, and when we saw people crying as we were leaving it told us that we were making an impact on these precious folks. It was the 9th time the LORD had allowed me to go to the United Kingdom.

We primarily went to work with Missionary Darren Rogers, and his church, The Bethany Baptist Church in South Wales. It was a burden of mine over 4 years ago to come and do a Bible/Evangelistic Conference for the people in this region. The LORD impressed on my heart to bring Music Director, and choir leader Mike Speck, and his wife Faye, and daughter Melody to this conference. My prayer was to encourage these churches, and bring together a mass choir of other churches and hold an all out Holy Ghost revival that would bring the churches in the area closer to the LORD.

I feel like our goal was accomplished. Although no one was saved in this meeting, loads of folks testified to us, and publicly, that the music was a real help to them, along with the preaching.

Mike Speck and His family was Awesome! Mike has worked with some of the largest choirs in the world. He has worked with people like Jerry Fallwell, Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers, abd David Jeremiah, just to name a few. Now I mention this for one reason. Some would think that pride could get in the way after you have reached a status quo, or certain pinnacle. I am here to tell you that is NOT THE CASE with The Specks. They made that choir feel like they were the greatest choir that ever lived on this planet! And by the way…The Choir smacked it out of the park every night! I wish you could have been there for those who missed it. Watching the culture of our Gospel music here in America, mix with the tremendous culture of the Welsh, with their rich heritage of choir singing, and hymn singing, and making a joyful noise in their hearts, the only word I can use is AWEOME!!!!!!!

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND your church using Mike Specks choir music in your church. It will be a real blessing. I so enjoyed getting to know this family. They are truly humble servants for the Kingdom of God. It was always about lifting up Jesus while we were there in the meetings. I like people who are 100% wide open for the LORD!

It was also a real joy to be with my brother David Sampson. There have been some great men of God that have influenced my life, but I must say there has been no one person that has been willing to help me more than my brother David. This was the 2nd time that he and I had been overseas together on a mission trip. Last year we were in Grenada together. But this is the 1st time we were the main speakers for an overseas Bible Conference. I hope it is not our last. David is the pastor of the Parkway Baptist Temple in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. His church is supporting close to 100 missionaries. They just recently raised over 50,000 dollars to build a Parkway Baptist Temple in the Dominican Republic. The church is now built, and a National Missionary Pastor is now pasturing there, and reaching folks for Christ. Parkway is a tremendous work for the LORD.

David preached some great sermons while he was there, but I believe his sermon on the Holy Spirit was probably the one God chose to really put a special touch on.  Thank David for going and supporting me as one of your missionaries. I Love you brother!

Pastor Darren Rogers, and pastor Paul Jones was reached with the gospel by the help of the Gospel Preachers Association, and American missionaries, who went to Wales over 20 years ago. Their goal was to reach people with the gospel, and pray that God would raise up some great men there in Wales to take these works over. It is awesome when someone will listen to the voice of the LORD to leave their own country, and surroundings to reach someone totally different than them. But I believe the greatest thing about missions is to see a person of that culture get a burden for their own people. Yet God uses chooses to use someone that is not of that culture to get the job done. That is amazing to me.

Both of these pastors opened there doors and welcomed us in, and opened the doors of their churches for us to minister to their people. I am ever so grateful to these men and the work they are doing for the LORD in these last days. It was their choir’s, along with a few others in the valley’s that came and lifted their voices to the LORD. We were not sure how things would go, since this was radically different than anything they were use to. We learned something. The first night of the meeting there were about 75 people there. The next night about 85. The next night 120, the next night 145, and the last night 170! Word was getting out! It broke my heart when I saw all those people there, and they were crying when service was over! They wanted more! If we could have stayed we would have. If we do this again, and I am sure we will, we are going to plan for an entire week, and give ourselves some time at the end of the conference just incase we need to go a couple more days. I believe revival was getting ready to break out.

Please continue to pray for these churches. They are making a difference in Wales! Please continue to pray for us, and that God will continue to open doors like this for our family to go through. Thank you as well for supporting us, and getting us to Wales!
